Firmiu vs DocuSign: pricing and feature comparison

DocuSign is the best-known name in electronic signatures and has been in the market for over twenty years. Firmiu is smaller and was built with a different goal: covering what an accounting practice, a law firm or a real-estate agency in Latin America actually needs, without charging prices designed for corporations.

This comparison uses DocuSign's public pricing as of August 2026. Plans change, so it's worth checking their site before deciding.

The monthly price says little on its own. What matters is what you end up paying per document sent, and the gap there is wide.

DocuSign's Standard plan costs $30 per user per month billed annually — $360 a year — and includes 100 envelopes per user per year. That works out to about $3.60 per document. The Personal plan, at $11 a month ($132 a year), allows 5 envelopes monthly: about $2.20 per document.

Firmiu's Starter plan costs $15 a month and includes 30 documents per month. That's $180 a year for up to 360 documents: about 50 cents per document. The Pro plan, at $29 a month, allows 60 documents monthly, roughly 48 cents each.

Put differently: Firmiu's Starter plan costs half what DocuSign's Standard does and lets you send more than three times as many documents a year.

There's a detail in DocuSign's plans worth reading carefully: the Standard plan's 100 envelopes are per year, not per month. Spread out, that's about eight documents a month.

That works fine for steady workloads but fits seasonal businesses poorly. An accountant whose work clusters around filing season, or an agency with one heavy month of contracts, can burn through the yearly allowance in a few weeks.

Firmiu's allowance is monthly and renews with each billing cycle. A busy month doesn't leave you short for the rest of the year.

DocuSign caps each file at 25 MB. Firmiu accepts up to 50 MB per document, twice as much.

This isn't a minor technicality. Contracts with blueprints, colour-scanned case files and reports with photographs pass 25 MB easily, and the usual workaround is compressing the PDF until it fits, sacrificing image quality on exactly the documents where detail matters.

When an agreement is made of several files — the contract, the annexes, the ID — Firmiu merges them into one document before sending. The signer gets a single email, signs once and downloads a single PDF with the certificate at the end.

The Starter plan merges up to 5 PDFs per send and Pro up to 10. On top of that, each signer can have several signature spots spread across the document — one on each annex, say — and completes them all with a single signature.

Both services produce an audit trail with IP, date, time and device, and both embed a cryptographic signature in the final PDF that makes later modifications detectable.

Where Firmiu adds something is open verification: every document carries a printed reference number that anyone can look up at firmiu.com/verificar without an account. Whoever receives the contract can also upload the PDF and check that its fingerprint matches the recorded one — and that computation runs in their own browser, so the file never leaves their machine.

It's worth stating plainly: DocuSign is a trust service provider with certificates issued by internationally recognised authorities. If your process requires that level of formal accreditation, that's their advantage and it's a real one.

At Firmiu, support comes straight from the team building the product, in Spanish, with no escalation tiers in between. If something breaks, the answer comes from whoever can fix it.

The interface and emails are in Spanish and English, each signer gets theirs in their own language, and the legal documentation is written country by country for the region. For a small business in Latin America, that proximity often matters more than the feature catalogue.

No tool wins at everything, and there are scenarios where DocuSign is clearly the right call.

If you need multiple users with roles and permissions inside one account, native integrations with Salesforce, SAP or Workday, a mature public API for automating at scale, or certificates issued by accredited authorities for processes that explicitly require them, DocuSign covers all of that and Firmiu does not yet.

Firmiu is built for the opposite case: one person or a small team sending documents regularly, who wants the process to be simple for whoever signs and would rather not pay for an enterprise platform they won't use.

Firmiu pays off if you care about cost per document, send heavy files, have busier months than others, or value close support in Spanish.

DocuSign pays off if you need teams with permissions, enterprise integrations or formal certificate accreditation.
