How to use your signature

    Draw it

    Sign in the box as you would on paper. Not happy with it? Undo the last stroke, or clear it and start over.

    Pick ink and format

    Blue or black, and a thickness that looks like your pen. PNG works almost everywhere; SVG is for design and print.

    Insert it into your document

    In Word or Google Docs: Insert › Image, then place it on the signature line. It downloads cropped to the ink, and in Word it lands at real signature size.

Is an image of your signature an electronic signature?

Not on its own. An image can be copied and pasted into any document: it doesn't prove who signed, when, or whether the document changed afterwards. That's what an electronic signature with a certificate is for.

Is creating my signature free?
Yes. Drawing and downloading it is free, as many times as you like, and you don’t need an account.
Which format should I use: PNG or SVG?
A transparent PNG for almost everything: Word, PDF, Google Docs, email and slides. SVG if you'll use it for design or print, since it scales up with no quality loss; Google Docs and some older versions of Word don't accept it.
Do you store my signature?
No. The image is created in your own browser and downloaded straight to your device: your signature is never sent to Firmiu or kept on any server.
Is an image of my signature legally valid?
It can work for informal documents, but it's weak evidence: an image can be copied and pasted into any document and leaves no record of who signed or when. If you need to be able to prove a signature, use an electronic signature with an audit trail, like Firmiu's: it records how each signer's identity was verified and the document's fingerprint.
How do I add my signature in Word?
Save the image, then in Word go to Insert › Pictures › This Device and pick the file. Under Wrap Text, choose “In Front of Text” so you can place it on the signature line.
How do I sign a PDF?
You can insert the image with a PDF editor, but anyone could do the same with a copy of your signature. With Firmiu you upload the PDF, mark where the signature goes and sign from your browser or phone: the document ends with its signature certificate.
