Section 13 of ECTA (Act 25 of 2002) governs electronic signatures and recognizes two types: the standard one and the advanced one (accredited by the relevant authority). A signature doesn't lose legal effect merely for being electronic.

What makes a signature valid in South Africa?
ECTA excludes acts such as the alienation of immovable property, long leases and bills of exchange. For the rest, Firmiu backs each signature with IP, device, location and verification.
